An Exploration of the Wind as Yarn (2018)
Polymer coated printed aluminium
An Exploration of the Wind as Yarn is the result of an investigation into weaving as an inspiration process or methodology. It explores ideas about intangible volumes and spaces, resulting in a collection of material surfaces 'woven' in the landscape.
The process in itself takes inspiration from the invisible patterns of the wind to reflect on a material narrative analogous to weaving. The weaving process is dissected and re-interpreted into a hybrid material and making language. This method resulted in weaving invisible landscapes with visible ones, material processes with conceptual frameworks of making.
An Exploration of the Wind as Yarn reflects on how textile thinking can be used to revisit textile making processes for new textile expressions.
